At CS2 we strive to ensure that client projects adhere to all building regulations, under the energy and sustainability banner we offer commercial SBEM Part L calculations to ensure on construction projects meet UK standards.
SBEM stands for Simplified Building Energy Model, created by the BRE, it is used to demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations Part L2A New Builds and Part L2B Existing Builds. SBEM identifies ways in which to save money and improve a buildings energy efficiency and accounts for anything from building fabric u-values, air tightness, HVAC, renewable technology through to frame factors and solar gain. This can take place during the design stage (alongside building regulation submissions) and as-built stage, once the building is complete. CS2’s process consists of the following:
- Review your plans & specification and make any recommendations
- Complete the Design Stage SBEM Calculation
- Provide guidance to achieve a pass (if required)
- Complete the As Built SBEM Calculation and EPC
- Supply all documents to meet your deadlines.
At CS2, we understand the complexity of the Part L Approved Documents and the various criteria and rules within Part L; we also understand buildings and their services. This expertise enables us to model buildings effectively in the SAP or SBEM and implement the most cost-effective compliance solutions at the initial design stage of Part L.
