Surveyors Attend CS2’s Annual APC Training Day

Last Thursday 15th June, saw our Surveyors attend CS2’s annual APC training event which brings together employees to develop their skills in preparation for their APC test.

What is APC?

The Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) ensures that candidates are competent and meet the high standards of professionalism required to become a chartered surveyor.

The assessment will test candidates on a range of skills including, professional practice, interpersonal and business management. Our job at CS2 is to prepare the candidates with the relevant knowledge and skills so that they feel confident in passing the test and becoming chartered.

About the Day

After arriving at the Ibis conference rooms at 9am, our surveyors were briefed on the day and then split into two groups. Group one spent the first half of the day with Danny Medcalf, a RICS Licensed APC Assessor Trainer, who explained how the APC presentation should be structured in order to successfully deliver key points based on the marking criteria. It was great to see our surveyors work together and then present confidently in front of the group.

After lunch, the second group session began where Farhan Raja, founder of JobInterviewlogy, taught us how to be interview ready with techniques to slow down our brains in order to cultivate answers that weren’t filled with hesitation and ‘likes’…’uhhh’s…‘ and awkward gaps of silence. It was great to learn so many techniques that helped our surveyors feel more confident in their answers and prepare them for their APC test.

The day was finished off with a very competitive quiz, which definitely got our surveyors thinking (and shouting), finished off with post training meal and drinks at Turtle Bay, Birmingham🍺🍹
