CS2 were instructed by RS Components to provide contract administration, tendering services and project management for the refurbishment of 10no of existing RS Components stores, located nationally from Aberdeen to Southampton. A brief was taken and a specification was put together for client approval, including material recommendations. Projects were tendered as a batch with the opportunity to successfully win up to 10 of the sites. Following detailed review of tenders and contractor pre-qualification, projects were split between 2No of contractors and batched nationally ensuring best value, and allowing the contractor’s site teams to be retained, ensuring the knowledge taken from each project was passed onto the next project.
Each project lased 3.5 weeks from start on site to handover. Temporary trade counters were set up outside of works areas to keep continuity of trading throughout refurbishment works, minimising disruption to the retailer. Prior to the instructed refurbishment works, additional instructions were issued to the main contractor which included the refurbishment of WC areas, and upgrades and modernisation to existing electrical services.
