So what is Mental Health Awareness Week?
Mental Health Awareness Week serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness about mental health and its impact on individuals, families, workplaces, and communities. It aims to challenge misconceptions and break the stigma surrounding mental health conditions, empowering people to seek help and support. Through initiatives like social media campaigns, public events, educational programs, and personal narratives, this weeklong observance ensures that mental health takes center stage in global conversations. During this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, CS2 focused on addressing workplace stigma and promoting discussions around anxiety.
What we did at CS2
At CS2, we took several actions to support Mental Health Awareness Week. We started by creating informational packs inspired by The Mental Health Foundation, which included mindful activities, doodle pages, and conversation starters. These packs aimed to encourage small actions that our team could undertake while at their desks. On Tuesday, we organized a 20-minute lunchtime walk for the CS2 team. Research shows that walking outside can improve blood pressure, enhance mental health, and elevate mood levels through increased serotonin from sunlight exposure*. Lastly, on Thursday, we joined the national Wear it Green Day, bringing the office together for a fun-filled quiz, breakfast, and an abundance of green attire.
Support for mental health services is readily available, encompassing therapy, counselling, helplines, support groups, and online platforms. These resources ensure that individuals have access to the help they need. For more information, please visit The Mental Health Foundation’s website or explore our other fundraising events 👉 here.
